LPPM Certification

Besides TCA Spa, there are only 31 Platinum refiners and 27 Palladium refiners around the world that have been accredited by the London Platinum and Palladium Market (LPPM). LPPM is the world’s most relevant organization in matters regarding quality and features of platinum group metals and refiners working to recover these important raw materials and distribute them.
Platinum and Palladium are increasingly used in numerous industrial applications, but they are also getting scarcer. Recovering them instead of extracting them is paramount to not only guarantee environmental sustainability, but also to ensure the competitiveness of many companies and economic systems all over the world.
LPPM’s accreditation requirements are strict and involve different kinds of testing, beside the assessment of the excellent quality of Platinum and Palladium metals. Good Delivery Platinum and Palladium ingots have, as a matter of fact, a purity of at least 99.95%, they are smooth, free from cavities and easy to handle.

Companies included in the list are well established on the market; they have a steady annual production of Platinum and/or Palladium of not less than five hundred kilograms, they keep the same production levels for at least three consecutive years and can demonstrate that they have to ability to produce Good Delivery platinum group metals of an acceptable standards. Being on LPPM’s lists also implies being economically and financially stable. LPPM associates the long-term profitability of a refinery and its ability to comply with the required standards with, among other things, its volume of production and a minimum tangible net worth.
The accreditation process involves constant testing on the quality of refined and recovered metals, on infrastructures, on analytical capacity, on applied standards and on the tools available in the chemical analysis laboratories.

LBMA Certification

TCA S.p.A. has been added to the LBMA’s Good Delivery List for Gold.

TCA has satisfied the LBMA as to its ownership, history, production capability and financial standing. It has also passed the LBMA’s exhaustive testing procedures, under which its gold bars were examined and assayed by independent referees, and its own assaying capabilities were tested.

The London Good Delivery List of Acceptable Refiners of gold and silver is maintained by the LBMA, by whom it is copyrighted.

It lists those refineries whose gold and silver bars have been found, when originally tested, to meet the required standard for acceptability in the London bullion market.
The List now includes 81 gold and 82 silver refiners.
The LBMA is the international trade association that represents the wholesale over-the-counter market for gold and silver bullion. The LBMA undertakes many activities on behalf of its members, including the setting of good delivery and refining standards, the organization of conferences and other events, and serving as a point of contact for the regulatory authorities.

RJC Certification

Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) is a non-profit organization established in 2005. It aims to encourage as many companies and organizations as possible in the field of precious metals to adopt responsible business practices.

The RJC Certification requires a complex certification process, which includes several steps and is conducted by third parties. It involves 2 standards:

• the Code of Practices (COP) promotes and describes the responsible business practices throughout the supply chain of precious metals. The main issues guaranteed by the COP system concern human rights, labour rights and working conditions, metals and diamonds’ source, respect and compliance with the environmental requirements.

• the Chain of Custody (COC)fosters the responsible traceability for jewelry supply chain. In particular, it aims to regulate the issues about management and responsibilities, material testing, suitability of materials – both recycled and existing -, reliability of the third-party corporations working with the company, supply from conflict-affected areas and supervision for the chain of custody of the materials.

Since 2016, T.C.A. S.p.A. is a member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC). The company believes that promoting responsible and sustainable business practices – in social, environmental and human rights field – is becoming increasingly important. Since 2016, in particular, T.C.A. supplies companies with RJC Certified Gold and, in 2021, T.C.A. Silver, Platinum and Palladium too have achieved this main goal.

All the companies with a sustainable business approach in Italy and abroad more and more often choose to buy RJC Certified metal.
